珠串的歷史悠久，與宗教、文化、審美和藝術緊密相連，成為古老傳統中最為經典的樣式之一。佛教傳入中國后，珠串也被賦予了佛教的意義，每串佛珠都由一定顆數的珠子串成，其特定的數目都有緣由，被賦予一定含義。108顆表示斷除108種煩惱；54顆表示菩薩修行過程中的54階位；36顆表示36天罡護佑；18顆表示十八界、即六根、六塵、六識；14顆表示觀音菩薩的14種無畏，等等。收藏珠串，無論是掛珠、持珠還是戴珠都可作為一種飾物，增加人的美感、威儀和自信。

Beads necklaces and bracelets are the most classic traditional objects with a long history and close connection with religion, culture, aesthetics and art. After Buddhism was introduced into China, beads were also endowed with Buddhism. The number of beads in each work was specific with special meanings. 108 beads refer to 108 kinds of troubles, 54 to 54 ranks in the process of Buddhist practice, 36 to 36 gods, 18 to 18 causes leading to troubles, 14 to 14 goods brought by good deeds and so on. To collect and wear beads can increase people’s aesthetics, prestige and confidence.
